Bunaken

Is still attractive Bunaken? so the question is often in asking friends who had traveled to Papua, Ambon, Wakatobi to Alor and Komodo. Bunaken as requirements only when an ordained into divers. Compulsory come to Manado.

That was and when Bunaken still offering the charm. Clear visibility, a wide range of pelagics. Now a lot has changed. Manado reclamation little more influence. Garbage began often found to Bunaken. There was some coral and coral reefs are damaged. Even some of the giant clams - Giant Clamp - which used to be in Fukui already extinct. The increase in ocean temperatures also accelerate the demise of marine biota there.

Increasingly rare Baracuda or tuna in there. Napoleon fish also had a regular sight in the front area of the village. During lunch break on kapalpun, we could see them seliweran forth below, as if waiting for the rest of the rice.

A friend said he to Manado only to hunt in the area of macro Lembeh. Strait of Bitung. Bunaken choice to pass up.
"Sloth, .. there's nothing interesting there".

I am not mistaken summarizes the opinion that friends, though not entirely true, too. Bunaken is still sticking charm. There's another side of amazing. Expanse of lush coral Likuan still pamper the eyes.
Frankly I do worry about Bunaken. Fish are fewer and fewer fish to prove something goin on there. Something was happening. The last three days at Bunaken, did not see a pelagics, except for a turtle.

Pollution, human ambition, making reclamation area that had been underwater paradise is threatened.
Are you ready to lose Bunaken?
